Objectives

Main learning objectives:
Frame Occupational Health and Safety (OSH) in Human Resources Management;
Describe the forms of organization of SST services, based on legislation;
Identify hazards and assess risks and understand their effects on the health and safety of workers;
Know and understand the objectives, conditions and means of prevention and protection in OSH;
Present Behavioral Security (CS) tools;
Know and apply some risk analysis and accident investigation methodologies;
Master the criteria for implementing OSH management systems (ISO 45000).
Compatibility with the teaching method: From a theoretical-practical approach, the aim is to provide students with a set of skills that allow them to understand the risks/dangers that lead to occupational illnesses and accidents at work. Throughout the sessions, good organizational practices in the OSH field will also be presented.
Teaching Methods

When using the expository class, in which theoretical aspects will be addressed, the teacher will discuss the various subjects using, as auxiliary means, technological supports that allow students to expose the proposed topics. The use of more student-centered methodologies, and autonomous learning, meets the assumptions and paradigms of teaching based on the search for evidence and will allow the student to grasp the concepts from the perspective of observation and recognition of the problems that arise (here they will be activities and practical questions were mobilized as a way of learning for students). The proposed teaching methodology uses different teaching methods, such as expository classes (theoretical) and independent study (of a practical nature). The proposed methodologies will allow students to acquire the necessary and appropriate skills, as they will also develop autonomous work and learning through discovery, which will facilitate the framing of the OSH theme. It is through the complementation of these pedagogical activities that the objectives of this curricular unit will be achieved.

2. Risk Factors at Work 2.1. The causes and consequences of accidents. 2.2. Direct and indirect costs of work accidents. 2.3. Identify and evaluate risk factors at work (physical, chemical, biological, ergonomic, psychosocial).
3. Risk assessment, prevention, and protection methodologies 3.1. Risk assessment methodologies for their elimination/reduction. 3.2. Individual and collective protection measures. 3.3. Work accident prevention plans.
4.Behavioral Safety 4.1 The ABCs of safety behavioral. 4.2 BSC Program.
5. Implementation of OSH management systems 5.1 OSH management systems. 5.2. Audits and audit procedures.
Content Explanation

The theoretical contents of the course will be exposed through illustrated classes, whenever possible, with practical cases. Students will be motivated to apply the skills acquired through practical activities, including the analysis and discussion of case studies and exercises. In the theoretical exposition of the subject, the expository method and the interrogative method are privileged. In the practical discussion, emphasis will be placed on the use of demonstrative and active methods.
Methodology Explanation

Each theme of the program is addressed in a way that allows students to receive fundamental information and apply the knowledge acquired, in theoretical-practical activities, either through the teacher's exposure or through research and self-learning methods. The way in which the program is organized aims, on the one hand, to master the knowledge considered indispensable and, on the other, to acquire skills that enable the student to have a special sensitivity to the themes, problems, and consequences of OSH, aiming to acquire knowledge to improve working conditions and labor relations.
